Bob Jones University held its annual Soccer Jamboree on Friday night, Sept. 26, marking the beginning of its intramural society soccer season. There, teams began the process of creating their long-term game plans.
As the season commenced, spectators wondered which teams will go to the Turkey Bowl this year.
However, no teams clearly dominated the others. While every team played two games each, not a single championship league team pulled out two victories.
“With some of the combinations of the different teams they’re all pretty equal,” Ryan McCarty, the university’s society sport director, said. “So it’ll just kind of depend on who shows up and who figures out how to play together the best, the quickest.”
Another reason the teams appear balanced is the shift in the men’s 11s league. There are six teams competing this year compared to the ten teams that competed two years ago.
“There’s been more interest in 7s this year,” McCarty said. “The guys who want to play 11s have just kind of consolidated, which makes it a little more equal playing field in my opinion.”
McCarty noted that the joint team of both the Alpha Sigma Omicron Ambassadors and the Nu Alpha Phi Flames played very well among the women’s championship league teams. The Nu Alpha Phi Flames won the Turkey Cup in 2024.

In the men’s 11s league, McCarty said the Sigma Alpha Chi Spartans created the most scoring opportunities with a strong defense.
Despite this edge, the Spartans will have to watch out for the Pi Gamma Delta Royals, who played well at the jamboree and also made it to the Turkey Bowl last year.
The season has the possibility to be an eventful one, full of nail-biting games and surprising outcomes. Only time can tell which teams will make an appearance in the 2025 Turkey Bowl.
