The Collegian won nine awards at the South Carolina Press Association 2024 Collegiate Contest announced Feb. 28, including four first place awards.
The Collegian staff writers Amylia Boyd, Bethany Brooks, Caleb Fabrizio, Jonathan Lovegrove and Abigail Vogel won first place in the news story category for their article titled, Hurricane Helene batters Bob Jones University.

Amylia and Jonathan Rose won first place in the podcast category for the “Bob Pod.”
“It’s an incredible blessing to see how God transformed this small idea into something great and allowed me to be a part of it,” Boyd said.

Bethany won second place in the news story category for her article titled, BJU Engineering students’ weather balloons captured wildfire photos.

Jonathan Lovegrove won first and second place in the first page design category for the November and April 2024 issues. He also won first place in the video category for his video, New BJU President Josh Crockett shares goals, vision for University’s future.

Daniel Matesevac, William Klapperich and Rylie Wiedell won second place in the video category for their video, BJU faculty football game comes down to the wire in instant classic.

Tessa Bonnema won third place in the photo story category for her photo story, Weather balloons take flight, launched by BJU freshmen engineering students.

Olivia Adams won third place in the photograph category for her photo, One man expresses his gratitude to volunteers providing meals in the Asheville area following Hurricane Helene’s devastation.
