Bob Jones University will hold a discussion panel called a Worldview Collective on Monday, Sept. 25 titled “My Biggest Doubts about Christianity Are…” The panel will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Stratton Hall. A collection of speakers, including Dr. Renton Rathbun; Dr. Brent Cook; Dr. David Gardenghi; Dr. Melissa Gardenghi; and Dr. Greg Mazak, will take questions from the audience about doubts the students may have about the Christian faith.

The event is free of charge. It is open to the public to attend, Dr. Rathbun said. Dr. Rathbun is director of BJU’s Center for Biblical Worldview.

Questions will be submitted electronically via a QR code that attendees will scan, allowing the questions to be delivered anonymously. Dr. Rathbun expects the questions will include:

  • How do supposedly contradictory scientific findings and Biblical statements match up?
  • Why does God allow suffering if He is good?
  • How do certain aspects of the Bible logically make sense?

Several different academic subjects are represented by the panel members. Dr. Rathbun has a doctorate in Apologetics. Dr. David Gardenghi, a member of the science faculty, has a doctorate in chemistry. Dr. Melissa Gardenghi, a member of the math faculty, has a doctorate in mathematical sciences. Dr. Cook, professor of Bible and Church History, has a doctorate in church history. And, Dr. Mazak, a member of the BJU Seminary faculty, has a doctorate in New Testament interpretation.
