Friday, Jan 16., Bob Jones University resumed the intercollegiate volleyball season with the volleyball jamboree. The night consisted of games played across five different leagues: the men’s and women’s championship and recreational leagues, and a coed league.
Because the season began on Dec. 1, 2025, a few teams already competed prior to the jamboree. Despite beginning more than a month ago, there are still many games left, with playoffs set for Feb. 12-13.
Because of the small number of games played, it is difficult to predict the champion of the season. However, of the five men’s championship teams, the Theta Kappa Chi Stallions and the Alpha Theta Pi Razorbacks are top contenders. The Razorbacks were undefeated as of Jan. 29, while the Stallions had one loss.
The Nu Alpha Phi Flames and the Sigma Lambda Delta Duskies lead the women’s championship league of eleven teams. Victoria Thurston, the ISCEC women’s athletic director, said that these teams are “always strong contenders and have held a good record in the past.”
Of the 11 coed teams, four were undefeated and five had not won a single game.
This early in the season, any team may win the championship. As more games unfold over the next few weeks, results should provide a clearer idea of which teams to watch out for in the playoffs.
