Last week, the Class of 2025 graduated from Bob Jones University amid great fanfare. Among the graduates were two members of The Collegian staff, photographer Katelyn McKenney and reporter Daniel Matesevac.
Katelyn McKenney
An education studies major with a minor in photography, McKenney enjoyed honing her skills as a photographer while working with The Collegian. She has contributed several photo stories to the news organization during her tenure, including when a winter storm covered the campus in snow.
“I really enjoyed getting to take photos of ‘Cyrano de Bergerac,’ ‘Wait Until Dark’ and ‘Argus and the Maze of Myth,’” McKenney said, referring to plays performed at BJU during the 2024-2025 school year. “Getting the opportunity to take photos during the plays grew me a lot as a photographer.”
“I really love the 2024 Christmas issue the most,” McKenney added. “And that is mainly due to being able to see a physical representation of my work.”
Daniel Matesevac

Matesevac got his start at WBJU-TV, the broadcast journalism student organization. The group eventually merged with The Collegian. He contributed several articles to The Collegian website and print issues as well as video stories for the news site’s new YouTube channel.
“‘We didn’t know we were making memories,’” Matesevac said, quoting the author A.A. Milne. “‘We were just having fun.’”
Of all his stories, Matesevac says he especially enjoyed covering the 2024 faculty flag football game.
“I got to interview important people and edit it in one of my favorite styles—a cinematic SportsCenter-esque recap,” Matesevac said.
The Collegian staff thanks both McKenney and Matesevac for their tireless service and wishes them the best as they seek the Lord’s direction in their future careers.
