Bob Jones University students will perform “Argus and the Maze of Myth” this week. The one-act play, a medieval fantasy adventure reminiscent of “The Princess Bride” and “The Never-Ending Story,” was written by theatre graduate student Jon Klukow.

“This play actually started off as a homework assignment that was due in about thirty minutes,” Klukow said. “So I had to write up something … and for some reason, the idea of a knight and a squire going into a labyrinth—kind of like the idea of the myth of the minotaur in Greek mythology and all that—really just stuck in my mind.”
Argus, the title character, is a cowardly young squire who dreams of becoming a knight but can’t because he isn’t royalty. His master, a brave but clumsy knight, leads on a journey to save a fair maiden from the labyrinth where she is held prisoner by a minotaur.
“It really comes down to what helps you become who you want to be,” Klukow said. “Is it what you were born as, or is it what you do?”
The play will be performed on April 21-22, and 25-26, at the Performance Hall. Tickets are now on Showpass.
